SPA COLONNADE IN LUHAČOVICE
In a new coat of Cemix Břízolit
The reconstruction of the spa colonnade of Luhačovice, is exceptional in many respects. After careless construction work in the past, many elements had almost disappeared. Through sensitive interventions, it was possible to preserve and restore the original parts of the successful functionalist building by the prominent Czech architect Oskar Poříska.

The Colonnade is an architecturally and urbanistically significant set of buildings, declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and proposed for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Luhačovice Colonnade consists of three buildings - the Great Colonnade, the Small Colonnade and the Vincentka Hall, from where the most famous Luhačovice spring of the same name originates.

Facade in original colour

The Vincentka Hall in Luhačovice has undergone a comprehensive reconstruction. The facade was extensively repaired, including 100 m2 of new windows in the facade and 12 stained glass windows were carefully restored.

In cooperation with the investor and the Municipal Heritage Office, Cemix 2799 Břízolit natural and coloured in two bespoke shades was selected. The facade was thus restored to its original colour from the time of the buildings construction. In accordance with the original design, Břízolit was used, with the aggregate scraped out of the applied plaster, creating a spectacular surface with depressions. Now the facade of the colonnade, the Vincent Hall, shines with the traditional beige colour, the same as it did more than 70 years ago.
