RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CITY SLAUGHTERHOUSE IN OSTRAVA
Historic centre of the future attractive urban district
Thanks to the Polish studio KWK Promes of the architect Robert Konieczny, known as a pioneer of "moving architecture", the run-down building of the former Ostrava City Slaughterhouse has been saved, which as an attractive key building forms the historical centre of the newly emerging district.

The aim of the revitalisation project was to preserve the original character of the historic building, but at the same time transform it for new use in a contemporary way. The new and modern are blended with the old and historic through a linear design in white and grey, with burnt brick, cast iron columns and restored windows.

The complex includes five exhibition halls, which can be used variably thanks to a system of rotating walls. In addition to the PLATO gallery exhibition spaces, educational and administrative spaces and a café are also planned. The project is definitely an attraction for architecture lovers who can admire not only the exhibitions but also the beauty of this unique building.
